Tohoku University visited and worked with Thuyloi University
On August 8, Thuyloi University held a reception for a delegation from Tohoku University, Japan to work at the university.
Attending the reception were Prof. Trinh Minh Thu - President of Thuyloi University, Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet - Vice President and Heads of the Departments and Faculties of TLU. On the side of Tohoku University, there was Prof. Tetsuya Nagasaka - Vice President, Executive Director of Alumni Association "Shuyukai" as head of the delegation, Prof. Hitoshi Tanaka - Distinguished Professor of Thuyloi University who has made many contributions and given opinions for many important research projects in Vietnam, along with other professors of Tohoku University.
Established in 1907, Tohoku University is the third public university established in Japan. The university was recognized by the Japanese Government as one of the top three universities in the country in June 2017, along with Kyoto University and the University of Tokyo. The university is highly regarded for its outstanding international achievements in research and education, with 5 Nobel Prizes awarded to its researchers.
Since 2007, Thuyloi University (TLU) has officially started a close cooperative relationship with the Graduate School of Engineering of Tohoku University, Japan by signing a cooperation agreement in scientific research and student exchange. Since then, many students and lecturers of TLU have received scholarships every year to study and research at Tohoku University. The two sides have jointly organized many large-scale bilateral and international conferences and seminars, along with many joint research projects on hot social issues, especially coastal erosion. By 2019, the two universities officially held a signing ceremony, deciding to raise the scale of cooperation from the faculty level to the university level, developing comprehensive cooperation in the fields of training, student and lecturer exchange, academic exchange, organizing conferences, seminars, and implementing joint research projects and technology transfer.
During this working session, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu expressed his gratitude to Tohoku University for taking the time to visit and work with TLU. The President discussed the changes in the current scale of TLU, domestic training programs, international training cooperation and exchange programs, especially emphasizing the cooperation programs to train students to work in Japan that TLU is implementing.
Prof. Tetsuya Nagasaka also shared about the university's research achievements and the results of cooperation that both sides have built. He also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in research and training, and expressed his desire to strengthen the cooperative relationship with Thuyloi University through student and lecturer exchange programs, as well as joint research projects in the future.
At the end of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu thanked Tohoku University for taking the time to work with TLU and hoped that the two sides would be able to cooperate in the near future. On behalf of TLU, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu invited Tohoku University to attend the 65th anniversary of the University's founding this coming November.
