As part of its official working trip to South Korea, on June 19, the delegation of Thuyloi University (TLU) held an official meeting with Chosun University – a prestigious institution in South Korea with a long-standing history, strong research capabilities, and a strategic focus on international collaboration.

The Thuyloi University delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet – President, and included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Tam – Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Yen The – Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thang – Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering; Dr. Nguyen Van Thin – Deputy Head of the Department of Academic Affairs.
Welcoming and working with the delegation, from Chosun University were: Prof. Kim Choon Sung – President; Prof. Kim Hyun Woo – Director of the Office of International Affairs; Prof. Wi Sung Ok – Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs; Prof. Jang Hyun Jin – Visiting Professor, Office of International Affairs; and Mr. Kim Sang Won – CEO of KCL, a strategic partner of Chosun University.

At the meeting, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of education and research. Key topics discussed included:
- - Cooperation in undergraduate and postgraduate education, focusing on student exchange, joint training programs, and scholarships;
- - Coordination in scientific research, especially in the fields of engineering, technology, water resources, and climate change response;
- - Promotion of university-industry collaboration, with the involvement of KCL – a company with strengths in quality inspection, innovation, and technology transfer.

Chosun University is a private university founded in 1946 with the support of more than 72,000 citizens of Gwangju City. The university currently has 22,000 undergraduate students, around 1,300 graduate students and PhD candidates, along with 2,200 faculty and staff members.
With a solid foundation, Chosun has become one of Korea’s leading universities, ranked 25th nationwide according to the Times Higher Education rankings. The university is well known for its strengths in the following areas:
- - Social welfare (healthcare, beauty care);
- - Engineering and applied technology;
- - Biotechnology, with several large projects awaiting approval from the Korean government.
These are fields with strong potential for expanded cooperation with Thuyloi University in the near future.

The working session concluded in an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation, opening up many concrete prospects in training, research, and technology transfer between the two reputable higher education institutions of Vietnam and South Korea.
At the end of the meeting, the Thuyloi University delegation toured several facilities and training equipment of Chosun University.
