Thuyloi University welcomed delegations from CSIRO, Griffith University (Australia) and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand)
On the morning of January 21, 2025, Thuyloi University held a meeting and worked with delegations from CSIRO, Griffith University (Australia), and Chulalongkorn University (Thailand). The meeting aimed to discuss research and training issues and seek cooperation opportunities in common research areas.
The international delegation included leading experts: Prof. Tim Malthus and Dr. Nguyen Duy from CSIRO, who specialize in remote sensing, IoT, and water quality modeling; Prof. Kelvin O’Halloran and Assoc. Prof. Edoardo Bertone from Griffith University, experts in water and energy resource management; and Prof. Penjai Sompongchaiyakul from Chulalongkorn University, a renowned researcher in marine chemistry and environmental pollution. Additional participants included Dr. Thai Mai Thanh from VinUni, an expert in robotics and data science, and Mr. Hoang Dung, CEO of D&L Technology Integration and Consulting JSC, along with media representatives from Tien Phong and Nong Thon Ngay Nay newspapers.

On behalf of Thuyloi University, the Board of Directors was represented by Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet, Vice President, along with representatives of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, and the Faculties of Chemistry and Environment, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, and Economics and Management.
The meeting opened with a welcoming speech from Prof. Nguyen Trung Viet thanking the partners for taking the time to visit and work with Thuyloi University and expressing his joy when the two sides had the opportunity to exchange expertise and research that has been and is being implemented.

Representing CSIRO, Prof. Tim Malthus also thanked the university and introduced his organization. CSIRO is the leading scientific research organization of the Australian government, famous for important inventions such as Wi-Fi technology, agricultural innovations, and solutions to climate change.

Prof. Kelvin O’Halloran shared about Griffith University. This is an institute in the top 2% of the world's leading universities, focusing on social and environmental issues, with strengths in Asian studies, environmental science and sustainable development.

Meanwhile, Chulalongkorn University, represented by Prof. Penjai Sompongchaiyakul, is currently the number one prestigious university in Thailand, providing multidisciplinary training and is highly ranked in the world for graduate employment (according to the QS rankings).
Following the program, experts from all sides presented and discussed research that has been and is being conducted. The opening session was a presentation by Prof. Penjai Sompongchaiyakul on water quality issues in Thailand. This was followed by a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Chinh on the KC 14 project, a study on the development of a set of indicators to assess the efficiency of water use in irrigation systems. Assoc. Prof. Edoardo Bertone on the DFAT project in Thailand, a research paper on the model system to assess and forecast morphological changes in coastal areas of Central Vietnam by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Nhat Quang, Prof. Tim Malthus from CSIRO brought advanced technology applications from AquaWatch and HydraSpectra devices. Finally, there was a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Hai Trung on Living Lab.


In addition to the official discussion session, the delegations visited the Chemical Engineering laboratory at the university, observing practical application research in the experimental area.


At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to promote cooperation, towards new developments in common research fields, opening up future prospects.
