Leaders of Thuyloi University work with University of Patras (Greece)
On the morning of February 27, 2025, a delegation from Thuyloi University led by Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu, President of the University, along with H.E. Pham Thi Thu Huong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Greece, visited and held a working session with the University of Patras to promote cooperation in education and scientific research.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Christos I. Bouras, President of the University of Patras, with the participation of Prof. Dionissios Mantzavinos, Vice President, and leaders from various faculties and departments of the university. On behalf of Thuyloi University, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu, President, led the working delegation along with representatives from the university's departments.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Christos I. Bouras extended a warm welcome to the Vietnamese delegation and expressed the desire to promote joint cooperation programs between the two institutions in the near future.
Ambassador Pham Thi Thu Huong affirmed that the Vietnamese Government pays great attention to education and training, and emphasized that the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece will serve as an important bridge to foster cooperation between the two universities.
In response, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome from the University of Patras. He introduced the 65-year history and development of Thuyloi University, highlighting its strengths in training and research in water resources, disaster prevention, and climate change. He also shared the university’s international cooperation experience with partners in the United States, Europe, Asia, and international organizations.

During the meeting, both sides discussed and agreed on key areas of cooperation, including joint training through linked programs such as 2+2 and 3+1, co-supervision of graduate students, and the implementation of student internship programs. In research collaboration, the two universities will coordinate to carry out joint research projects in the fields of water resources, environment, climate change, and disaster prevention. Additionally, both sides agreed to expand opportunities for faculty and student exchanges to enhance academic cooperation. Especially in international project collaboration, the two universities will work together to seek funding and implement bilateral research projects through programs such as Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe.

To strengthen cooperation, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu extended a formal invitation to the University of Patras leadership to visit and work in Vietnam in the near future. In response, Prof. Dionissios Mantzavinos, Vice President of the University of Patras, expressed his keen interest in visiting Vietnam to explore and build collaborative programs with Thuyloi University, particularly in the fields of engineering, economics, human resource training, and various sciences and cultures. Representatives from Patras' faculties, including Economics, Engineering, International Culture, History, and Archaeology, all expressed strong interest and noted the many similarities between the two institutions in terms of education and research—providing a solid foundation for long-term cooperation.

The meeting concluded successfully, opening up many prospects for future cooperation between Thuyloi University and the University of Patras, promising to bring practical benefits to both sides.
