On the morning of April 23, 2025, Thuyloi University held a working session with a delegation from Japan-Vietnam Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. (VJEC) and Technobridge NKE to discuss collaboration on research projects and employment opportunities for students.
The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai – Vice President of Thuyloi University, with the participation of leaders from relevant departments and faculties. Representing the partner companies were Mr. Nomura Tadashi – Chairman and General Director of VJEC, Mr. Takashi Takeuchi – Director of the JP Career Project of Technobridge NKE, along with other representatives from both companies.

At the beginning of the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the interest and goodwill from the Japanese partners. He emphasized that Thuyloi University places great importance on international cooperation, technology transfer, and creating practical learning environments for students. Many staff and lecturers at the university have been trained in Japan through scholarship programs, joint research, and academic exchanges. The university has maintained effective partnerships with prestigious institutions such as Tohoku University, Tsukuba University, Nara Women's University, as well as Japanese enterprises like Hino Motors, IHI, Union, and others.
Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Canh Thai expressed his belief that, with the existing foundation, Thuyloi University, VJEC, and Technobridge NKE could develop substantive and effective cooperation programs in the future. The collaboration potential extends beyond high-quality human resource training to scientific research and facilitating student access to international labor markets, particularly in Japan.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Hien – Executive Director of VJEC – introduced the company’s main activities, including design consultancy and supervision of major transportation projects in Vietnam and the region such as the Hanoi–Lang Son Expressway, North–South Expressway (Phan Thiet–Dau Giay section), Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Nhat Le 3 Bridge, among others. The company also provides technology transfer consultancy and engineering design outsourcing services, especially in areas such as landslide prevention and road and bridge maintenance.

Mr. Takashi Takeuchi from Technobridge NKE highlighted the company's strengths in steel bridge design and maintenance, with over 45 years of experience in Japan. NKE is currently implementing high-quality technical workforce training programs in Vietnam through the JP Career Project. This project includes 800 hours of Japanese language training combined with work skills and Japanese corporate culture education, helping students meet the requirements for employment in Japanese companies. As of April 2025, 300 Vietnamese engineers have successfully been introduced to 78 Japanese companies through this initiative.

During the discussion, the parties explored potential collaboration in scientific research, technology transfer projects, and supporting Thuyloi University students in accessing job opportunities in Japan through specialized training programs. The university highly appreciated the partners' orientation and experience and expressed its desire to expand cooperation not only in training but also in applied research, internships, and international-standard human resource development.

At the end of the meeting, all parties committed to continuing in-depth discussions and jointly developing research programs in hydrology and bridge-road design, as well as creating conditions for students to work in Japanese enterprises. This marks an important first step toward building sustainable cooperation programs between Thuyloi University, VJEC, and Technobridge NKE in the near future.
