Delegation of Power China Group visited and discussed cooperation with Thuyloi University
On the morning of December 19th, a delegation from Power China Group’s Guiyang Branch visited Thuyloi University for a professional exchange on collaboration in training, human resource development, and scientific research.
The delegation from Power China Group, Guiyang branch included Prof. Lei Shengjun – Senior Management Expert, General Manager of Overseas Department, Professorate Senior Engineer; Prof. Chen Xunjie; Prof. Li Wenjin –Water Resources Engineer, Professorate Senior Engineer; Mr. An Bailong – Water Environment Engineer and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha – Contract Department.

On the side of Thuyloi University, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai - Vice President; Representatives of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, Department of Academic Affairs and Representatives of the Faculties of Water Resources Engineering.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Le Quang Tuan – Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Cooperation – extended a warm welcome to the Power China delegation from Guiyang (Guizhou) and expressed his gratitude to Assoc. Prof. Tan Soon Keat for acting as a bridge for cooperation between Thuyloi University and Power China.

In his remarks, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai expressed appreciation to the guests for visiting and working with Thuyloi University. He conveyed his delight at the opportunity for both parties to exchange ideas and explore potential collaboration in education, scientific research, and talent acquisition for major energy and electricity-related projects. He also introduced the university's scale, its multi-disciplinary training programs, and strengths in scientific research, hoping this would serve as a foundation for future cooperation.

On behalf of Power China, Mr. Lei Shengjun also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to exchange ideas with Thuyloi University and showed great interest in future collaboration. He shared that Power China, and particularly the Guiyang Institute, focuses on the fields of irrigation and hydropower. He noted that this year, relations between Vietnam and China have reached new heights with the signing of a strategic partnership between the two countries. As such, he expressed a strong desire to engage more with Vietnamese universities through hydropower and irrigation-related projects.


Additionally, Mr. An Bailong provided a general overview and highlighted key points related to Power China's international cooperation activities. This visit aimed not only at talent acquisition and training but also opened up possibilities for investment, development, and project exploration. In recent years, Vietnam’s electricity and energy sector has experienced robust growth, and Power China has made significant advancements in science and technology, especially in the renewable energy sector. However, they still seek to collaborate with Vietnamese enterprises and universities to enter the domestic market. Besides energy and electricity, Power China also expressed a desire to collaborate more deeply on water resource issues.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai agreed with the proposed areas of cooperation, emphasizing that Thuyloi University has experience working with major international organizations such as ADB and IAHR. As a leading training institution in irrigation and hydropower, the university is ready to support human resources for both domestic and international projects.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed on their shared desire to promote cooperation, aiming for new achievements and development in the fields of irrigation and hydropower in Vietnam, while also enhancing the supply of high-quality human resources for future projects.
