Thuyloi University strengthens research and training cooperation with the University of California, Davis, USA

On the afternoon of May 15, the delegation of Thuyloi University accompanying Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam came to work with the University of California, Davis City (UC, Davis), California, USA. Prof. Simson Atkinson - Vice Rector in charge of Scientific Research, on behalf of the University of California, chaired the reception for the delegation.

At UC Davis, the Ministry's delegation was welcomed by the Global Affairs and the University's Professor team. The team then gave an overview of the University's outstanding activities as well as cooperation with the Vietnamese side, focusing on the fields of agriculture, irrigation, natural disaster prevention and control and climate change. At the meeting with relevant units of UC Davis, Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam thanked and appreciated the thoughtful reception of the University for the delegation, and proposed that the University continue to train officials in agriculture and irrigation for the Ministry, and moreover, appoint scientists in various fields to coordinate with Thuyloi University and related units to develop research projects/activities related to proactive water resources, contributing to sustainable development in Mekong Delta.

During a business trip to the state of California to promote human resource training and trade promotion activities between the two sides, Thuyloi University was assigned by the Ministry to be the focal point for connection and at the same time, on behalf of units of The Ministry to sign a cooperation agreement (AOC) with UC-Davis to strengthen cooperation in training and scientific research in the field of agriculture.

With the signing of the AOC mentioned above, Prof. Trinh Minh Thu, President of Thuyloi University, hopes that the two sides will soon promote lecturer and student exchange activities and build coordinated training programs between the two sides (such as the 2+2 program), cooperate to develop project proposals, including interdisciplinary projects serving the Government management of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, organizing international conferences, etc.
Moreover, through Thuyloi University as the focal point, the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation with units of the Ministry in research and training in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and biotechnology, contributing to building a sustainable and responsible agricultural system.

UC Davis leaders also expressed their interest in the areas of strong cooperation between the parties and wished to soon have a delegation come to Vietnam to discuss in detail potential cooperation in the near future./.
