Mr. Le Van Kiem, TLU Alumni Cohort 6, and his family has donated 20 billion VND to support the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic and salt-intrusion in the Mekong Delta

In response to the call of the Prime Minister and the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, on March 20, representatives of Long Thanh Golf Company, on behalf of Mr. Le Van Kiem and his wife Mrs. Tran Cam Nhung, respectively President and Vice President of the company, presented a donation of 20 billion VND to the authority. Haft of the donation will be used for the campaign against COVID-19 and the other half for the relief from disastrous salt-intrusion in Mekong Delta.
Shortly before that, Mrs. Tran Cam Nhung had donated 10 billion VND to build new community houses and shelter homes for underprivileged people across the country during Tet holiday.
So far, Mr. Le Van Kiem and Mrs. Tran Cam Nhung have contributed to the social charity and humanitarian programs inside and outside Vietnam with a total amount of up to 1,250 billion VND.
As a former student of Cohort 6 at Thuyloi University, Mr. Le Van Kiem has made great contributions in empowering hundreds of students to be more motivated in studying and working. Every year, TLU's disadvantaged students and excellent students receive a scholarship of 15 million VND from the "Le Van Kiem and Family Scholarship" which has been added up to more than 20 billion VND over the past 10 years. In addition, he also honored the veterans and the local people who had helped him during his years at Thuyloi University.
With positive contributions to philanthropy over the years, Mr. Le Van Kiem and his wife have been honored by Forbes World as the 10 most prominent philanthropists in Asia-Pacific in 2019.

Mr. Le Van Kiem is one of the Vietnamese entrepreneurs who led the economic reforms in the 1980s and experienced the ups and downs during the two major economic crises in the past three decades.
Born in 1945 in Thua Thien Hue, Mr. Kiem graduated from Thuyloi University and holds a degree in engineering. Despite being exempted, he volunteered to join the army and participated in the resistance. He used to go to Laos, Cambodia and B2 battlefields. After April 30, 1975, he was assigned to take over the Ministry of Transport and Public Works of the former regime and worked at the Military Administration Committee of Saigon Gia Dinh City.
Starting from nothing, he achieved great success in 1990 only to almost lose everything in the Asian financial crisis in 1997. Through various ups and downs, Mr. Kiem has maintained a huge inheritance and awarded the was title of Labor Hero.
Mr. Le Van Kiem is also known as the owner of Long Thanh Golf Course, one of the famous and beautiful golf courses in Vietnam.
