Partnership Networking Forum Celebrating the 65th Anniversary of Thuyloi University (1959–2024)
On November 15, 2024, Thuyloi University held the Partnership Networking Forum to celebrate the 65th anniversary. The event was attended by nearly 30 delegations from international universities and enterprises, along with faculty members of the university.
The forum began with a welcoming speech by Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu, President of Thuyloi University. He expressed his gratitude to the participants for joining the 65th Anniversary Celebration and reflecting on the university’s journey of construction and development over the past 65 years. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu emphasized that the event was not only an opportunity to revisit the university's proud 65-year history but also a chance to strengthen and expand partnerships with international collaborators, aiming for sustainable development in the future.

Within the framework of the forum, Thuyloi University, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, presented the Medal for the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam to Mr. Peter Amos, Executive Director of Damwatch Engineering Limited. Previously, on November 14, 2024, at the Science and Technology Conference towards the 80th Anniversary of the Development of the Water Resources Sector, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Hiep presented the Medal for the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam to Prof. Tetsuya Sumi - Kyoto University, Japan. This is a recognition of the important contributions of Prof. Sumi in the research and training cooperation for human resources of Thuyloi University and of Mr. Amos in the field of dam safety and disaster risk management in Vietnam, especially through the "Vietnam - New Zealand Dam Safety Project", expected to last until 2027.

A highlight of the event was a short video showcasing Thuyloi University’s remarkable achievements over the past 65 years. From its origin as the Water Resources Academy, Thuyloi University has evolved into one of the leading institutions in engineering and water resources, with an extensive global collaboration network.
The forum also provided an opportunity for international partners to discuss future directions for collaboration in research, training, and technology transfer. Representatives from universities and international organizations shared meaningful initiatives, opening prospects for sustainable development and advancing research and innovation in water resources engineering and management. Notably, the Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute collaborated with Thuyloi University on a protocol project addressing “Drought and Saltwater Intrusion in Climate Change.”
At the conclusion of the event, the university’s management presented souvenirs to express gratitude to the partners who have supported its development journey. Delegates posed for commemorative photos, marking the successful conclusion of a day of networking and cooperation.
The International Partnership Forum, held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Thuyloi University, not only highlighted the university’s developmental milestones but also laid a foundation for forging stronger connections, elevating international collaboration to new heights.
