About Tohoku University
Tohoku University was founded in 1907 as the third national university in Japan. It was built on the grounds of the ancient castle Aoba in Sendai city. Currently, Tohoku University has five campuses in Sendai City. As of May 2016, Tohoku University has enrolled 1,944 international students from 93 countries and regions around the world.
Student exchange program
In January 2007, Thuyloi University and Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University signed an Agreement for Educational and Research Cooperation. This MOU has been extended twice, in 2012 and 2017, and currently is in effect until 2022.
As a part of this MOU, the student exchange program between TLU and Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University has been implementing for a few years. Under this program, every year 1-2 outstanding students from in TLU are chosen to study at Tohoku University for 1-2 semesters. Tohoku University might sponsor the transfer students’ stay depending on case-by-case considerations.
