The Dutch high-level delegation visited Thuyloi University

On March 19th 2024, Thuyloi University is honored to welcome a delegation from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, along with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam.

The delegation, including Minister Mark Harbers, Ambassador Kees van Baar and many other prominent figures, visited and worked at Thuyloi university marking a new step forward in the cooperative relations between the two countries as well as Thuy Loi University.

The visit of the Dutch delegation holds significant importance, not only as an occasion to strengthen the partnership between the two nations but also as an opportunity to evaluate the achievements gained in cooperation with Thuy Loi University. Over the past 25 years, the collaboration between Thuy Loi University and Dutch partners, especially TU Delft, has yielded many notable results.

Ms. Marjan Kreijins, Head of Project Management, Center for Innovation and Impact at TU Delft, shared that more than 20 years of cooperation with Thuyloi University has brought significant achievements. Among universities in Vietnam, Thuyloi University is an important partner of TU Delft.

This visit is also an opportunity for Dutch leaders and diplomats to evaluate and orient the contributions of Thuyloi University to Vietnam's development in the fields of education and scientific research. . During the reception, Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu – President of Thuyloi University introduced Thuyloi university's achievements and commitment in developing new projects and strengthening cooperation with international partners, especially those from the Netherlands.

According to Professor. Trinh Minh Thu: Over the past 25 years, Thuyloi University has accompanied the Dutch Government and Dutch universities, especially TU Delft in many important projects. Support activities include training human resources and providing equipment for laboratories, as well as projects on water resources, floods, and riverbank and island protection. Currently, both universities are collaborating in implementing outdoor projects and solutions for living with the natural environment in Vietnam.

During the visit, lecturers from the Thuyloi University introduced the Mangrove Living Lab as a symbol of creative cooperation between TU Delft and the Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE) of Thuyloi University and the Institute of Coastal and Offshore Engineering (ICOE) to promote efforts to restore and preserve mangrove forests. This project, deployed in the Mekong Delta and Red River Delta, is an innovative platform for research, education and policy development, focusing on sustainable management and protection of mangrove ecosystems.

The visit of the Dutch delegation is not only an opportunity to evaluate the cooperative relationship but also a new step in consolidating and expanding cooperation between the two countries in the future, bringing great benefits to the both sides.
