On the morning of June 2, 2023, Thuyloi University worked with Maeda Corporation, Japan on the issue of recruiting students majoring in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, Electricity – Electronics and Infrastructure Engineering.
Overview of the meeting with Maeda Corporation, Japan
On TLU side, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet - Vice Rector, leaders of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation.
On the side of Maeda Group, Japan, there were Mr. Tran Tuan Khanh - Deputy General Director of Maeda Vietnam Co., Ltd., Ms. Doan Thi Lan Phuong - Chief Staff of Building Administration Department.
Maeda Corporation, Japan was established in 1919 with an investment capital of 284 billion Japanese yen, has a net revenue of 3,658 billion yen independently with an official staff of up to 3,256 people. The corporation's headquarters is located in Iidabashi, Tokyo. It has Hikarigaoka Representative Office including 12 branches, ICI Research Institute and branches and representative offices presenting all over the world. Maeda Group has 2 representative offices in Hanoi and Da Nang, Vietnam.
During the meeting, the representative of Maeda Group raised the issue of shortage of human resources in Japan, especially in the fields of construction, mechanics, electricity - electronics, and infrastructure engineering. Currently, Maeda Group is aiming to recruit human resources in Vietnam directly without going through intermediaries. Recruited students will receive “On Job Training” training; rotating work at the construction site; departments in the corporation; capture knowledge; multidisciplinary skills and knowledge capital. After working in Japan for 7 years, employees can work at Maeda Vietnam. Maeda Group is also implementing the most projects in Vietnam such as: Marubeni instant coffee factory in Vietnam (in terms of maintenance and repair of the existing factory); Design consultant for Arakawa Chemical Vietnam; supervision consultant for Nomura Ecopark project; design and construction of Takesho Food processing factory; construction of items inside Acecook Vietnam factory in Hung Yen; SOJITZ project (Investment in renovating farm in Tam Dao), new construction of passenger terminal - Tan Son Nhat International Airport, construction of hydroelectric dam, Suntory Pepsico Central project.

Maeda Group has also cooperated with the University of Civil Engineering and the University of Architecture to deploy a program to recruit human resources to work in Japan and also have certain successes. Recruited students will work in Japan with a salary of about 260,000 Japanese yen/year, plus a bonus twice a year. Employees will enjoy all benefits as a Japanese citizen.
Sharing at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet - Vice President also thanked Maeda Corporation and wished to cooperate with the corporation in the long term and have a strategy to provide high quality human resources for the group through activities such as organization of orientation seminars and conferences for students. Currently Prof. Viet is also a member of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) and has made great contributions to international cooperation activities between Vietnam and Japan.

At the end of the meeting, both sides were very pleased with the results of the meeting, which would be a premise for future cooperation activities. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trung Viet also made an appointment to visit and work with Maeda Group at Tokyo headquarters on the occasion of coming to Japan in November 2023.
