Some details about the project:

- Design consultant: Center for Marine Engineering & Port Development, Institute of  Civil Engineering, Thuyloi University

- Survey and design: 2016-2017

- Construction: 2018-2019

- Location: Back Beach, Mui Nai tourist area, Phao Dai ward, Ha Tien city, Kien Giang province.

- Design parameters:

+ The submerged breakwater, 380 m long, is formed by a geotextile tube (‘geotube’), 2.4 m in diameter. The crest level is -1,00 m. On the landward side of this breakwater, sand was pumped to nourish the beach. The sandy beach is divided into two parts: a berm at an elevation of + 0.8 m, average width 60 m (to the edge of the breakwater); a sloping part where sand was pumped to make a slope of 20% extending to the toe of the submerged structure.

+ The Northern closure section is 60 m long, the Southern closure section is 80 m long, the structure uses geotube with a diameter of 1.6 m, padded with sand bags to form a slope m = 1.5. The outside part comprises a rubble layer, 30cm thick, on a 10-cm thick crush stones (2x4) and a geotextile filter layer. The crest elevation is + 0.8m.

+ The auxiliary submerged breakwater route (430 m) for preventing sand is located parallel to the shore, 50 - 60 m far from the shoreline. The sand-filled geotube is 0.7-m tall. Its crest level is + 0,0 m.

+ Volume of nourished sand: 50,000 m3
