The Development Strategy of Thuyloi University for the period from 2006 to 2020 defined its vision to become “the leading university training high-quality human resource that meets the requirements of water sector development, as well as a prestigious science and technology center in the fields of water resources, hydropower, natural resources, environment and disaster management, contributing to the socio-economic sustainable development of the country, with the ability to integrate regionally and internationally” and its strategic goal to “basically and comprehensively innovate in order to ensure a favorable environment for all staff so that they can make full use of their capacity and knowledge for the development of TLU; create a modern and facilitated studying and research environment for students so that they can be equipped with up-to-date knowledge and essential skills that are necessary for their future career and promotion in the market economy; thrive to become one of the ten best universities in Vietnam to offer high-quality human resource and scientific research; build the brand “Thuyloi University” with strong prestige, diverse multi-lateral cooperation and the ability to actively integrate and cooperate with regional and international institutes and organizations”.
The Development Strategy for the period from 2006 to 2020 established the action plans for the whole phase from 2006 to 2020, with the emphasis on the detailed action plans for the transition period from 2006 to 2010, which was approved by MARD via the Decision No. 1745/QĐ-BNN-TCCB dated June 15, 2006. The Development Strategy has been the lighthouse to every activity implemented by the University during challenging and difficult transitional stage.
The plan of Development Strategy for the period from 2011 to 2015 is built up based on the lessons learned from previous transitional period (2006- 2010), with consideration of international and national ongoing changes that may relate to various aspects of the University. The preparation of this Plan also takes into consideration the latest legal documents, including Vietnam Human Resource Development Strategy for the period from 2011 to 2020, which was issued with the Decision No. 579/QĐ-TTg dated April 19, 2011 by the Prime Minister. This document consists of two main parts, namely: (1) Rationale for the detailed plan of Development Strategy for the period 2011-2015 and (2) Main goals of the Development Strategy for the next period (2011-2013).
