Vietnam - New Zealand Dam Safety Project attends the AgriConnectioNZ exhibition within the framework of the New Zealand Prime Minister's visit

Within the framework of the visit to Vietnam, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern attended the "AgriConnectioNZ: Strategic Partnership in Agriculture" bussiness dialogue and exhibition event organized by the Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture-Biosecurity-Land Information and Rural Affairs in the afternoon of November 15, 2022. The Vietnam - New Zealand Dam Safety Project implemented by the Thuyloi University, Vietnam in collaboration with the Damwatch Engineering Company and the GNS Sciences Institute, New Zealand participated in the exhibition to display the products and results of the project.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan delivered the opening  remarks

On the New Zealand Government website, the Prime Minister affirmed that the two countries have a long history of cooperation through the International Development Cooperation Aid Programme. The dam safety project is an excellent example of long-term and effective cooperation between the two countries. The project is starting phase 3, which will be implemented in 5 years with a budget of NZ$7.5 million. The project's goal is to continue improving disaster resilience in five provinces of Vietnam. During the conference, once again, dam safety was also highlighted by the Prime Minister as one of the New Zealand Government’s priorities, and she pledged to support Vietnam in the coming time.

Mr Le Minh Hoan - Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said, "Cooperation in the agriculture sector is an essential pillar in the partnership of Vietnam and New Zealand. Vietnam highly appreciates New Zealand's support in the agricultural industry, focusing on knowledge and technology transfer in market development for farm products, high-quality seedlings, animal and plant disease control, dam safety and disaster management”.

At the event, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visited the exhibition booth of the Vietnam - New Zealand Dam Safety Project. Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu, President of Thuyloi University and Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Canh Thai, Vice President, introduced the results achieved in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Project. The Prime Minister was very pleased and highly appreciated the results and expressed her wish that the Project would continue to make more effective contributions to disaster risk reduction and prevention in Vietnam in the context of worsening climate change impacts.
