Thuyloi University attends the education cooperation forum in Autralia and New Zealand

From November 29 to December 7, 2022, the President of the Thuyloi University Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu joined the delegation of the Ministry of Education and Training accompanying the National Assembly Chairman of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue to attend the Vietnam – Australia education cooperation forum in Melbourne city and Vietnam - New Zealand education cooperation forum in Hamilton city. At the forum, Thuyloi University signed a memorandum of understanding on training and scientific research with the University of Waitako, New Zealand.

The year 2022 marks a particularly important development milestone for the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Australia and New Zealand, in which education cooperation is the top focus area to enhance training capacity, human resource development of each country. Educational cooperation as an effective channel to enhance mutual understanding and people-to-people exchanges.The Vietnam – Australia education cooperation forum and Vietnam - New Zealand education cooperation forum opens a new stage for educational cooperation between the parties in a sustainable and long-term way, contributing to strengthening the partnership between Vietnam and Australia and New Zealand.

The forum was attended by a large number of leaders of universities, educational institutions and international organizations of the two countries. The President of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed Vietnamese universities and partners in Australia and New Zealand together sign memorandum of understanding on cooperation in training, research, exchange of lecturers and students.

At the forum, Presient of the Thuyloi University Prof. Dr. Trinh Minh Thu signed a memorandum of understanding on training and scientific research in the fields of water resources management and climate change with the University of Waitako, New Zealand.

Prof. Thu affirmed that the Thuyloi University has tightened cooperative relationships with Australian and New Zealand partners in research and training. The New Zealand Government has always supported the university in training and scientific research in the field of resource management, climate change, disaster risk management. Currently, the university is cooperating with New Zealand partners to implement the Vietnam - New Zealand dam safety project. The dam safety project is an excellent example of long-term and effective cooperation between the two countries. The project has been implementing for 15 years from 2012 to 2027. The project's goal is to strengthen the resilience of communities downstream of dams in Vietnam by expanding the application of dam safety assessment tools under the context of climate change.

On the evening of December 7, the delegation returned to Hanoi, successfully ending business trip to Australia and New Zealand. The trip helps to expand cooperation relationship between Thuyloi University and higher education institutions in Australia and New Zealand, promising to open up academic exchanges in the near future.
