Thuyloi University celebrated the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and the ASEAN Day for Disaster Management

TLU - To celebrate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction and the ASEAN Day for Disaster Management, On October 13, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control (NCP) coordinated with Thuyloi University and the disaster risk reduction partner organized many activities at Thuyloi University.

The Gala Program "Youths support communities in disaster risk reduction" was organized on the evening of October 13 at TLU

The International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction was started in 1989, after a call by the United Nations General Assembly for a day to promote a global culture of risk-awareness and disaster reduction. Held every 13 October, the day celebrates how people and communities around the world are reducing their exposure to disasters and raising awareness about the importance of reining in the risks that they face.

In 2022, the theme of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is “Early warning – Early action”. Early warning and early action for disaster risk reduction not only relies on the engaging disaster risk reduction team but also bases on community based resources including the FAST - STRONG - ENTHUSIATIC - CREATIVE of young people. In the context of complicated and extreme natural disaster and climate change, young people along with industry renovation 4.0 will be the core force in community based resources. Young people supporting the community in reducing natural disaster risks.

At the campus of the TLU, there was a photo exhibition "Women before the storm". Additionally, on the afternoon of October 13, the national urban forum "Building urban resilience through early warning and early action" was also successfully held to raise awareness and mobilize urgent action to implementation of goal G of the Sendai Framework for Action on Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030): “Increasing the availability and accessibility of multi-hazard early warning systems, disaster risk assessment and information for people population by 2030”. The Gala Program "Youths support communities in disaster risk reduction" was also organized on the evening of this day. Congratulation to TLU students winning the first prize of the speaking contest in the Gala Program!
