Nippon Steel visits and works with Thuyloi University

On December 4, Mr. Nakano Hiromasa, representative of Nippon Steel Corporation Vietnam visited and had a working session with the leaders of Thuyloi University to discuss about cooperation in the coming time between the two sides.

Welcoming the delegation, there were Vice President of the university Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Trung Việt ; Deputy Head of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Tung; Vice Dean of Faculty of Civil Engineering, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Sơn and lecturers of Division of Steel Structure, Faculty of Civil Engineering. In the meeting, Mr. Nakano Hiromasa discussed with Prof. Nguyễn Trung  Việt about  fields of cooperation between Nippon Steel Vietnam and the university in general as well as cooperation in training with the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Thuyloi University in particular. He also introduced the history of the group as well as the achievements in practical works recent applied by Nippon Steel in Vietnam.

Then, the in-depth issues of structure, anti-corrosion materials and paint technology and fabrication technology were discussed by lecturers of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, opening the opportunity for cooperation on the application of steel structure products of the Nippon Steel in hydraulic structures, civil engineering and transportation.

In addition, the two sides also reached many cooperation agreements in training such as creating opportunities for TLU’s students to visit and practice at the factories of Nippon Steel Vietnam in Hà Nội and Bắc Ninh.

In the coming time, the in-depth seminar on the application of steel structures of Nippon Steel is expected to be conducted in March 2021. Accordingly, the in-depth contents on the hydraulic structures of Nippon Steel in the fabrication of large span valves adapting to the corrosive conditions of the tidal zone; waterproof steel sheet piles for dam construction; applying paint technology to repairing and upgrading steel valves of the culvert system under the dike or construction of wharves and berths for ships in the estuary area of ​​Vietnam will be analysed  to find suitable solutions for state-level and ministerial-level projects which are implemented by the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
