10. Objectives:

Graduates of AP-WRE are expected to:

- Have a basic knowledge of politics and government laws

- Be able to identify, analyze, formulate, and design solutions to water resources engineering problems, both independently and in a team environment;

- Be able to apply considerations of technical, legal, regulatory, social, environmental, and economic factors towards managing multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary projects;

- Demonstrate commitment and progress in lifelong learning, professional development, and leadership, including participation in continuing education courses, workshops, and/or graduate study.

- Have good English proficiency for workplace communication or academic settings.

11. Expected learning outcomes:

Graduates of AP-WRE will have the following:

- An ability to apply knowledge of science (mathematics, physics, chemistry), and engineering principles, with emphasis on applications for water resources engineering;

- An ability to conduct experiments and analyze and interpret data, and use standards in water resources engineering and other major civil engineering areas;

- An ability to design a system, component to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, constructability, and sustainability;

- An ability to function in multi-disciplinary teams;

- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems (designing, planning, managing and operating) in water resources engineering and related major civil engineering areas;

- An understanding of civil engineering especially water resources engineering professional practice topics, the importance of professional registration, and the principles of professional and ethical responsibility;

- An ability to communicate effectively and to study and work in English;

- The broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in an economic, environmental, and societal context;

- A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in, life-long learning;

- A knowledge of politics, contemporary issues and government policies and laws;

- An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for water resources engineering practice.

13. Admission criteria:

- Candidates should pass the National High School Graduation Examination with satisfactory scores for Group A subjects (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) or Group A1 subjects (Mathematics, Physics, English), in accordance with TLU’s current regulation;

- Candidates should pass a separate English test with satisfactory scores.

- Candidates with a valid English certificate equivalent to or higher than IELTS 5.5 may be allowed to skip the curriculum of the first year.

15. Academic staff:

AP-WRE is conducted by highly qualified academic staff with rich teaching experience and good English proficiency. Also involved in teaching AP-WRE’s courses are professors from CSU and other international institutes.

16. Process of training and graduation criteria

AP-WRE is a credit-based program. The criteria for graduation is consistent with the Regulation of Credit-based Training issued by Thuyloi University. Students are required to complete all of the compulsory and some of the elective courses in accordance with the guidelines of SIE. Students are required to cumulate at least 151 credits (since July 2015) and achieve a GPA of 2.0 out of 4 or higher.
